What is Democracy?
Democracy is a system of government where the majority of the members of a group create the rules for the entire group. No individual holds absolute power over the group. All members have the right to vote in free and fair elections to select leaders and enact laws that govern the group as a whole. Various forms of democratic government exist including direct democracy, representative democracy, parliamentary democracy, constitutional democracy and participatory democracy.
