About UCL School of Management

UCL was founded in 1826 in central London, and introduced a progressive approach to research and teaching. The UCL School of Management — UCL’s business school, located in Canary Wharf, now London’s central business district — aims to frame the business world by what could be, rather than focusing on what has been. The UCL MBA builds on this by bringing an interactive, data-centric, and future-focused online program to busy professionals from anywhere in the world.

Tuition and fees

Tuition and fees are subject to change and may increase each academic year. Tuition does not include student fees, technology platform licensing, or support services. Learners are also responsible for travel and accommodation costs related to any in-person immersions or residentials.

Program structure

The UCL MBA is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA). Its structure focuses on teaching learners how to use data, analytics, and technology to forecast critical business issues. Learners graduate able to make informed business decisions while also navigating uncertain situations in a global context. As an UCL MBA learner, you will learn to:

Admissions

The admissions committee considers prospective learners holistically rather than focusing primarily on test scores. To apply, you must have at least five years of full-time work experience (or seven years of work experience with at least two years of experience in a senior executive leadership position), as well as, at minimum, an upper second-class bachelor’s degree (2:1) from a university in the U.K., or the equivalent qualifications from a country outside the U.K. You will need to submit:

  • Personal statement

  • References

  • Résumé or CV

  • Transcripts


Optional in-person orientation and immersions

The UCL MBA program may be offered online, but it also maximizes in-person interactions, to help learners connect with their faculty and peers, discuss business challenges in the 21st century, and grow their network.

Learners participate in a three-day program orientation at the Bloomsbury campus in London and Canary Wharf, to familiarize themselves with UCL, their faculty, and their cohort. They explore the school’s Canary Wharf and Bloomsbury locations, meet their support team, and discover professional services.  

Optional four-day immersions take place periodically in the heart of London’s financial district. These immersions serve as professional and personal development summits, and are led by faculty, professionals, and researchers. Learners work through learning activities and gain insight into executive-level leadership challenges.

Additionally, UCL MBA learners can also participate in leadership development training, reflections, and workshops.

Frequently asked questions

You will be expected to attend compulsory weekly live sessions for each of your modules. Live sessions are the best way to contextualize module information into actionable knowledge, and to learn directly from in-class discussions. Live classes also help broaden your personal and professional network, and allow you to build relationships with your cohort.

UCL MBA live classes take place on Zoom. Sessions are 90 minutes in length and are offered Monday through Thursday evenings (UK time).

Small class sizes of up to 20 learners, but usually between 12 and 18, allow for different perspectives in an intimate learning environment.

The UCL MBA is designed and delivered by the very same esteemed faculty members who teach on campus at UCL. Faculty members come from around the world, and as such they bring not only firsthand leadership experience and research skills to the classroom, but also culturally rich perspectives.

Yes. As a UCL MBA learner, you will be entitled to the same services offered to all on-campus learners. This includes 18 libraries and learning spaces located across London, as well as a series of museums and collections. You will also have access to a wealth of remote tools, such as IT support and the school’s e-library that carries additional access to journals, newspapers, databases, and more. You are moreover eligible for a student ID card, which you can obtain during your first campus visit.

UCL has a global alumni community of more than 300,000 former learners. The UCL School of Management (SoM) is keen to maintain strong ties with its alumni community; SoM hosts a number of events on campus or online, and offers everyone the opportunity to interact with fellow alumni, staff, and current learners.

The exclusive SoM online community at www.uclmgmtnetwork.com offers alumni the opportunity to receive news and share their own news, too; to catch up on what their fellow alumni are doing; and to connect with other alumni and current learners as either mentors or mentees.

Yes. You can choose to do a group capstone project, with a maximum of four participants including yourself.

UCL MBA capstone projects focus on specific industries. They are designed to enable learners to use the skills, methods, and techniques they’d have learned during the program to analyze and forecast growth potential for their project’s focal industry. Learners engage with faculty and peer learning groups in live class sessions. Faculty also provide individualized group feedback at set points throughout the development of a given capstone project.
