In 18 weeks, The Product Management Boot Camp at UCLA Extension will train you on in-demand product management skills like market analysis, value proposition creation, roadmap development, rapid prototyping, SQL, and data visualization. You’ll work with popular frameworks and tools, and develop your skills by completing real-world projects.

The curriculum is designed for maximum flexibility, so you can learn on your own time. You will only be required to spend four hours each week in dynamic virtual classes held on weekday evenings. All additional coursework is self-paced and can be completed throughout each week as your personal and work schedules allow.

Product management is strategic and focuses on a product throughout its entire lifespan. It requires knowing the product inside and out, the needs of its audience, and how both could evolve over time.

Project management.

Project management is tactical and timeline-based, largely focused on the product execution. Much of this role involves managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure deliverables are met.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, especially if they don’t have formal product management training. While the program covers everything a beginner needs to know to get into product management, it covers a lot of useful frameworks, tools, and approaches that would be useful to any product manager who hasn’t been exposed to them previously. These include business model canvas, design thinking, data visualization, and creating wireframes and prototyping. This program provides the hands-on experience employers are looking for — not just a certificate.

The boot camp focuses on digital products in a wide range of industries, such as consumer products, Software-as-a-Service, eCommerce, and FinTech. Although we focus more around digital product management, the concepts are easily transferred to hardware and/or physical product management as well.

No, it does not require coding experience. However, you will dive deep into SQL and Tableau to fully understand the data behind the decisions you will make as a product manager.

Our boot camp is a part-time, 18-week program designed for working adults, learners, and busy professionals. This gives you the benefit of a flexible learning schedule. Learners enrolled in this cohort should expect to attend two live, instructor-led classes each week (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.), while also setting aside an additional 20+ hours outside of class for self-study and projects.

Throughout the boot camp and up to 90 days after graduation, you will have access to career counselors that offer résumé review and interview prep, and you can tap into our global alumni community for even more networking opportunities. Once you complete the program, you will also gain lifetime access to our Career Engagement Network of more than 250 employers seeking skilled boot camp graduates.
