Free online courses from Learning By Giving Foundation

The Learning by Giving Foundation seeks to advance the next generation’s understanding of philanthropy by providing the financial, technological, and intellectual tools to achieve community impact and to make that knowledge widely accessible through an online forum. The Foundation accomplishes this by supporting academically rigorous full-credit courses with grants of $10,000 for each class to distribute to local nonprofit organizations. Our students gain important personal, intellectual, professional and leadership skills, and develop their own philanthropic values.

In the Summer of 2013, the Foundation developed a Massive Open Online Course, Giving With Purpose. This course is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Learning by Giving Foundation and Northeastern University, which developed the curriculum. The course is led by Northeastern University’s Social Impact Lab Director Rebecca Riccio.

Philanthropy touches every major social issue we face. We need informed, skilled, thoughtful philanthropic leaders and change agents now and in the future to address our greatest challenges. Giving With Purpose helps educate those leaders, so take our course and learn to become one of them.
